Save time! Call ahead for refills.

Plan ahead! The prescription label tells you how many refills remain and if the prescription has passed it's expiration date.

If your bottle says "NO REFILLS" or if it has gone past the expiration date even though it still shows refills, call us. We cannot give you your medication unless we have been given permission to do so by your physician. We will contact your doctor for you. Keep in mind that refill requests can take up to 72 hours to be answered.

Do you have a new insurance plan or card? No problem! The time to tell us about it is when you first make your refill request or hand in that new prescription. This saves you even more time because the pharmacy staff will not have to process your prescription twice.

Do we have $4.00 prescriptions? Although we cannot buy medications in the large volumes that the chain pharmacies do, we can often get very close to that infamous $4.00 price on generic medications. Give us a call for a price quote. We believe you will be happy with our prices especially after you have experienced our fast, friendly service.

Home Pharmacists

Alf T. “Ole” Oleson began pharmacy operations in 1945, opening his business in downtown Eudora.  Ole sold the store at its 101 W 10 th St location to Stan Byrne in 1970.  Ole and Stan both knew that providing the highest level of service to people would keep them coming back.  When Stan sold the store in 2007 to Debrah Barr, patients saw no change.  Debrah also knows that caring for people and providing the best service possible is the only way to operate a pharmacy.

Fast, friendly service.  That’s our promise to you.

Understanding Cholesterol

Your doctor pays close attention to your cholesterol levels because high levels increase the likelihood that you can have a heart attack, stroke, or that you will develop other coronary heart diseases.

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that is produced and stored in the liver. There are two types of cholesterol: low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

Our body's cells need and use cholesterol. LDL and HDL cholesterol have different jobs in the body. Picture LDL as the carrier that delivers cholesterol to the body's cells. Once the cells get all they need, they won't let LDL drop off any more cholesterol packages. So LDL carriers dump off the unwanted cholesterol in the bloodstream AND they go back to the liver to get more to deliver.

Now picture HDL as the body's cholesterol janitor. HDL travels to the bloodstream to carry away the excess cholesterol. The problem is the body hasn't hired enough HDL janitors and there is no way they can clean up all of the unwanted cholesterol. This is also why they often call LDL "bad cholesterol" and HDL "good". The extra cholesterol can then clog arteries and cause heart damage.

Your doctor will try to keep your LDL level under 100. LDL levels of 100-129 are borderline-high. And when your LDL gets over 130, that's considered high.

Doctor will think HDL levels of 40 and under are low and 60 and greater are high. And she will want to keep your total cholesterol number under 200.

Most cholesterol comes from the liver but 1/3 or so comes from our diet. It comes from meat, chicken, fish and dairy products. We can help our HDL clean-up crews by watching what we eat. And taking that prescription medication every day as directed.
